Internet Marketing
and the Promise of Riches

When I first heard about internet marketing what sounded like hype about how much money it is possible to make it certainly raised my eyebrows. I knew pretty much what you know now...and I had quite a few questions. My wife gave me a skeptical look (one I know all too well!) and told me I should focus on useful things like mowing the lawn. I decided I needed to find out more, and set out to learn as much as I could about making money online.

I started researching affiliate marketing, ClickBank, and all of the "internet marketing gurus". I learned a lot about these guys that include; Frank Kern and his Mass Control product, The Rich Jerk (not Frank Kern, he actually seems like a genuinely nice guy) at http://www.therichjerk.com, Brad Fallon of StomperNet and John Reese of MarketingSecrets.com. One of the revelations I had was that all of these guys are excellent salesmen. They would all do well in any sales position, they all chose internet marketing and are really good at both product development and sales.

One of the first things I learn was that many of the programs mentioned above were simply out of my price range. Some of them cost thousands of dollars and while they claim that they will provide a blueprint that is virtually foolproof, I needed a blueprint that wouldn't drill a gigantic hole in my wallet. I started to get a little discouraged, it seemed as if the only folks that could make money online were people that already had a lot of money available to them.

Then I received an email from a friend that had signed up with an online affiliate program called ClickBank. I had already signed up with CommissionJunction, but hadn't had much success making money using their affiliate ads. In a moment of boredom I strolled over to ClickBank to see what it was all about. One of the immediate things that stood out was that, in most cases, ClickBank affiliates pay out a very substantial percentage of their product's overall price. The other thing I noticed was that a number of these products were information based and it was pretty easy to see roughly how much money the different programs are paying out and how competitve their niches are (I found this 3rd party site with analytics data on ClickBank: http://www.cb-analytics.com/). This definitely peaked my interest.

So I signed up with CickBank and started researching the different products. This was around the middle of April 2009 and one of the hot performers was a new product called The ClickBank Code from an internet marketer named Michael Jones who I had read about in my earlier research. His product claimed to unveil a simple but effective way to tap into ClickBank and make really impressive profits. Again I was a little skeptical and the first thought that ran through my head was basically, "yeah, more money for those that can afford the investment!" But then, I saw the pricetag and realized that I could actually put this process to the test, without selling my car.

So I made a short list with 3 simple questions:

  1. Is The Clickbank Code for real?
  2. Will The Clickbank Code really help me breakthrough and make money online?
  3. Is it simple to make money online or is that all hype?

My ClickBank Code Results

So after investing in The ClickBank Code and putting it through the paces, I think it is a very solid program. To say that it is simple and easy may not be 100% accurate but it certainly isn't too difficult. If anything the difficult part of it is simply doing what it tells you to do, being consistent, and sticking to your plan. In reality I think this is the answer to almost any success, and from that perspective The ClickBank Codes blueprint for internet success is right in line. I can say that I have made money for the first time using the process. I'm not to a point where I can quit my job, but I do think that persistence and a consistent action plan will get me to that point, maybe even by the end of this year.

To truly succeed with The ClickBank Code, here is what you need to do:

  • Promise yourself (and I really mean that, write it down if necessary) that you will religiously follow the plan.
Seriously there were times when I would say to myself, "I know a better way" or "I wonder what I could earn if I did this?" but if you want to succeed with this resist the temptation to diverge from the path. One of the most important things you are going to learn in this process is the skill to focus and execute (and actually you don't need The ClickBank Code to do this but it is nice to have faith in some dollars as a reward), and once you have mastered that skill you will be able to diverge whenever you wish. But you will do so with purpose!
  • Don't invest in any additional products or services while you are going through the plan
Believe me, the temptation, especially in the first few weeks, is to get very excited and believe you can try out multiple plans at the same time. Don't. Again focus on one, The ClickBank Code. Once you have earned your stripes with it you will be able to test out any other plans you wish, including those expensive, thousand $ plans I mentioned above.
  • Take it one day at a time
In order to be successful online you need to draw your boundaries from day 1. The internet is very seductive and as you begin to make money you will inevitably become drawn to the notion that you must put more hours in to make more money. Take a step back and say to yourself, "take a break, this will all be here when I return". Then go get yourself a beer, go for a run, do whatever you do to reward yourself. This is critical to maintaining the balance you will need to succeed long-term. One of my favorite websites is Zen Habits, a site dedicated to teaching the discipline of habits, specifically those that lead to a healthy and prosperous life. I like to tell myself that it's essentially putting one foot in front of the other and walking towards your goal. Some days you may not take as many steps, some days you may even take a step or two backwards, but if you know the direction you are going, just keep taking steps and they will add up. You WILL end up at your destination

My final thoughts

So all in all I think that the investment in The ClickBank Code was very worthwhile and I'm sure that if you commit yourself to taking one step at a time, then the process outlined by Michael Jones will succeed for you as well.
